Gardens 03:16
i can send you roses i can send you safety pins but all i want is to send you to the gardens the gardens where things grow you can hold my hand just so you can even make me glow but is it me you wanna see in the gardens? the gardens where things grow oh, it don't matter oh, when my pulse is dancing oh, it don't matter when i feel your heartbeat next to mine, well, i lose my mind we can waltz like matilda we can even toss it all away but all i want is to wander through the gardens the gardens where things grow oh, it don't matter oh, when my pulse is dancing oh, it don't matter when i feel your heartbeat next to mine in the darkness of our kind i wanna find you growing

i don't want to stay in the comfort and the safety of solitude wanna turn around, wanna look away and go another way it's a hand-me-down, like everything that ever did come my way, no nothing ever feels brand new anymore life's a joke but i kinda wanna give it another try with a lullaby, little lady gonna sing you a lullaby it's a hand-me-down, like everything that ever did come my way, no nothing ever feels brand new anymore i only love people when they love me but oh, i want to change i need you lover i need your cover i need to hear you say ok to another go but is there any difference if you stay hight or low? you gotta dig a hole, dig a hole and hope that your spirit grows it's a hand-me-down, like everything that ever did come my way oh, nothing ever feels brand new anymore

Lost Cause 03:58
you're sorry eyes cut through the bone they make it hard to leave you alone to leave you here wearing your wounds waving your guns at somebody new baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost cause there's too many people you used to know they see you coming and they see you go they know your secrets and you know there's this town is crazy nobody cares baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost cause i'm tired of fighting i'm tired of fighting fighting for a lost cause there's a place where you are going you ain't never been before no one left to watch your back now no one standing at your door ain't that what you thought love was for baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost baby, you're a lost cause i'm tired of fighting i'm tired of fighting fighting for a lost cause

Marks 03:17
you try to make your mark but the tides wash it away you try and open your heart to a world that's full of pain the air reeks of despair and the street of blood and tears and time itself is savage doubt running wild across the years why not take it all apart throw the worst into the fire and keep the rest inside? show me natural when the civilized strive for objectivity? you try . . . you try and make a change and fight for what's right fight for what's right fight for what's right what's right?
7.
Overflow 04:13
i wanted you to come with me i wanted you to see i wanted you to swear allegiance to what we could be i was lost in sweet bliss caress i was blinded by the shine i gave you all the men inside when one would have been fine to give in to to give in to and overflow is this a false positive? i don't want to know is there still a fire inside or have we gone below? one road leads to reason and one to the unknown vulnerability is what gives you a soul to give in to to give in to and overflow tonight i am cold in my bed tonight i am cold in my head sittin' in this motel room thinkin' 'bout a fire wishin' for an easy night and hopin' you're allright i thought i saw a shootin' star and i wondered where it fell i keep seeing your face down each and every well to give in to to give in to and overflow to give in to to give in to to give in to and overflow

why don't you show me what you know? why don't you tell me why you had to go? chest like a mountain and hands of stone built to remind me i wasn't alone this is all i ever wanted and all that i can give what's this between us? what do we share? i see you tower but from above yeah you were broken and it broke me you never faced it down and i'm still tryin this is all i ever wanted and all that i can give yeah, i looked into your eyes but never saw you much to my surprise this is all i ever wanted and all that i can give

i’ll say no but that doesn’t mean I don’t want you to find out I’m wrong don’t you know there’s a way through the tornado you can see it in the ocean of the sky beyond the minds’ silhouette and in the coldest night you spend alone reeling from regret you can go i won’t wait for the signal to bolt truth is told, truth is told iron is gold in a suspended moment of maybe i’ll say yes but that doesn’t mean that I don’t need you to peer through the veils be my guest whether calling for heads or for tails the more you stay away from tenderness the less the story wants to end itself don’t you know that I would give it all to charity to love you on my soul i would turn over every stone on the side of the road just to know another suspended moment of maybe another moment of maybe the illusion hangs upon the barricades still rising in the gap between we can stand around suppressing nature’s own defenses willingly i need you to convince me of something true in the world, in this world need you to suspend this moment of maybe till and hoe every field and every row wanna grow doe see doe in a suspended moment of maybe

Until Light 03:44
will i ever find another lover someone to entice and hold? in the cold see the dream is still a'comin every morning deep inside my doom in my room there's a bust of a playbunny knocking at the window crying bloody murder stirrin' up the crazy day by day there's no telling her to stop it's a mystical refrain keeps me remembering in vain toss a penny in the well there's no heaven, there's no hell i am trying to stand firm, trial by fire leaves you burned lovers bouncing off my shell, off my shell until light in the norther hemisphere a balladeer was loathe to eulogize he was hidden away in a monastery orchid blossom crimson tide the divide he looked into my eyes and what did he see? could it be that i don't want to know? it's a matter of specific intention what if i don't feel like being alive? toss a penny in the well there's no heaven, there's no hell i am trying to stand firm trial by fire leaves you burned lovers bouncing off my shell, off my shell until light you regulate the motion the firmament's devotion to kaos is astounding even if somewhat grounding i need you to help me understand why everyone is lying the system isn't trying no matter what you do nothing changes with the times and i want you to reduce me to molecules.. to molecules toss a penny in the well there's no heaven, there's no hell i am trying to stand firm trial by fire leaves you burned lovers bouncing off my shell, off my shell until light

autumn comes but lies restrain old emotion, i, too, may listening down, commotion still holds them back no chance decay tandem cycle runaway shows up to feed your mind false emotion memory in space but not in time in moving sand and falling air and dying light you pose how primary the question is why data holds no weight tandem cycle runaway shows up to feed your mind false emotion memory in space but not in time

about

This, the ninth release from New York's Geordie Austen, is a group of mostly live recordings using just a guitar and a voice. Made in an acoustically treated closet during the first wave of the pandemic, False Contours tells the story of a breach in the walls of reason within which we often confine ourselves today and the psychic change that is inevitably engendered when we rise up and out. Called a " . . . collection of songs--haunting, cosmic, melancholy, lonely and honest." by Travalanche, this record strives to give form to hope whose force, like a thermal's, can only be felt, not seen. " . . . out there somewhere, someday, the spaceborne remains of our entire civilization will eventually be found sounding clear as a bell after its eternal journey and the equivalent of a giant intelligent butterfly will gawk in wonder and converse telepathically with its friends as they watch the Honeymooners and attempt to decrypt the meaning of 'to the moon, Alice!' But what of our emotions, dreams and heartaches, the stuff that really made us what we were? How would a thinking butterfly begin to suspect the existence of those? By listening to our songs, of course. And after all is said and done perhaps these are the most important works we could ever leave behind us as evidence that we were at times caring beings in spite of our penchant for violence and unilateral destruction. The butterflies care not a whit for our buildings and television programs and nuclear bombs but they fall in love with our music...and are eventually known throughout the universe as a beautiful, iridescent singing race of winged songwriters."
